Corte dei Francesi is a historic residence that proposes the typical Salento housing module, the courtyard house; an ancient court dating back to the 17th century, two centuries later it was transformed into a Tannery with brothers Jean and Pierre Lamarque, master leatherworkers skilled in the art of leather tanning.
From the recovery of that place of life and work comes a unique and original context that takes its guests back in time, discovering the former Lamarque Tannery with its evocative exhibition and museum space.
The solarium terrace is ideal for enjoying some outdoor relaxation or having an aperitif. The characteristic Apulian panorama will be the setting for these special moments.
Within the complex of the former Lamarque Tannery we find five ancient cisterns designed to collect a reservoir of rainwater needed for the production activity of yesteryear, with an excavation in the ground in the shape of an ampulla and with a small opening at the top from which water was extracted. The largest cistern, a place full of unexpected suggestions, can be visited.
